Ian Hore

Ian Hore is a Children's Ear Nose and Throat Consultant Surgeon at The Evelina Children's Hospital, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust.

He trained specifically in Children's ENT as Fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital, after a general ENT training that included three years at The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital in London and an MSc in Oxford.

He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England, and is a member of the The Royal Society of Medicine, The British Medical Association, The British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, The British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists and The European Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. He has presented nationally and internationally on Children's ENT problems and gives monthly teaching on this.

He has a special interest in Paediatric Airway Obstruction, particularly snoring and blocked breathing disturbing sleep i.e. sleep apnoea, that can be due to large tonsils. He also looks after other problems such as recurrent sore throats often due to tonsillitis that can lead for example to missing school. In addition he looks after other associated problems such as adenoid enlargement and glue ear. Large adenoids can cause nasal block and discharge i.e. excessive nasal mucus. Glue ear can reduce hearing and lead to recurrent ear infections, with children needing hearing tests assessment, observation and sometimes grommets.  Working at specialist children's hospitals gives him a great deal of experience looking after both the routine and complex ear nose and throat problems that children can be helped with.
