What can you do?
House dust mite
The actual allergens are enzymes within house dust mite dung. It is important therefore to kill the mite and to remove fragments of the dung.
Intensive dry vacuum cleaning will reduce the allergen level. Washing at temperatures above 55 degrees or freezing will kill the actual mite.

Moulds
Deal with any areas of damp.

Pets
Cat allergy is the most significant. The actual allergens are secretions from the saliva and hair glands. If getting rid of the cat is too traumatic, then regular shampooing (once a week) will reduce the allergen level.

Bedding
Feather and woollen bedding is quickly colonised by the house dust mite. These may be substituted for cotton and artificial fibres. Allergen barrier covers may also be used.
